FAQ

What is iTookThisToday™?

iTookThisToday™ is absolutely the quickest and easiest way to get pictures from your phone to the web. You just take a picture and email it - iTookThisToday™ does the rest. You don't have to sign up, you don't have to login, and you certainly don't have to pay.

Where do I email my pictures?

Email your pictures to photos@itookthistoday.com

Can't I do the same thing with Flickr?

Technically, you CAN do the same thing with Flickr. The thing is, you probably don't. Flickr is totally awesome, but it is not optimized specifically for mobile phone users. iTookThisToday™ removes all of the extraneous features to focus on one thing only - getting the pictures from your phone onto the web with the fewest possible clicks. You don't even need an account with iTookThisToday™ - just email your picture. Boom, you're done.

How do I include info when submitting my pictures?

When you email your image to iTookThisToday™, the following pieces of data are pulled from the message:

Note that your email address is never displayed on the page or shared with any third parties. It is only used for searching pictures. This way, if you perform a search for your email address, you can see just your images.

I would like to add more info about my picture than just in the subject line. What if I include text in the body of the message?

Text from the message body will not show up on the site. Lots of people have requested this and we thought about doing it, but the trouble is email signatures. Most people have email signatures which contain personal contact information. It would need to somehow be extracted from the body of the message in order to prevent their personal contact information from being revealed to the whole wide world. Since we can't reliably remove this data from the body, we decided against including it. If you really want to elaborate on one of your pictures, you can just add comments to it.

What if I need to delete one of my pictures?

Currently, you can not delete a posted picture. If you posted something embarassing by accident, contact us and we will remove it for you.

What if I don't want my name to show up under my pictures?

If you don't want your name to appear in the posting, you have to email your pictures from a generic email address. Besides, why wouldn't you want your name to appear with the picture? Witness protection program, perhaps?

Can I display my iTookThisToday™ pictures on my own web page?

We are working on a simple API that will allow you to do this. The only bummer is that we'll probably have to charge a couple bucks per month to cover the bandwidth costs. If you might be interested, please let us know.

What image formats are supported?

So far, we only have jpeg support because that is the picture format used on the iPhone. More formats could be added if anyone wants them - please contact us if you have special requests.

Can I email pictures from my computer?

Sure, but make sure they are in JPEG format and no bigger than about 700K.

Can I send more than one picture per email?

You can, but only the first picture in the message is going to get posted.

Will it work with my phone?

So far, we have confirmed that the site supports the following phones:

Please feel free to try your phone and let us know how it goes. One thing to note is that when you send from a non-iPhone, there is no way for us to know what your name is so we just post the sender name as Unknown. You should still be able to search for your pictures using your phone number however, because most carriers use it as part of your phone's email address. So, if your cell phone number is (401) 432-4321, searching for 4014324321 should work for you.
